When Mojo Crow decided it was time to record their debut EP, they already had a diverse range of material to choose from. Singer, songwriter and guitarist Chris Jones formed the Auckland based 3-piece with brother Nick Jones on bass, keys and violin and Ryan Ouston on drums originally. In 2015 Shawn Means took up the role of drums, and Tim Roper joined on lead guitar and the band had success reaching the national final of the Demon Energy NZ Battle of the Bands 2015. The band has now taken on Braeden Foster as bass player and Nick Jones now featuring on keys and electric violin in the live line-up.

Recorded at Roundhead studios in Auckland with the original 3-piece line-up of the band. Their self-released debut EP ‘Fly by Night’ highlights their rock, blues, and alt-country influences with catchy melodies, strong vocal harmonies and captivating lyrics.

Mojo Crow’s debut single ‘Satellite’ launches the album into a pulsing modern rock sound with haunting verses and explosive choruses,
followed by ‘Devils Blues’, a dirty raw blues-rock sound featuring solid walls of vocal harmonies and a violin solo. ‘Bethlehem’ and ‘Snake
Eyes’ are two toe-tapping acoustic-pop tracks that highlight the band’s alt-country influences, while ‘Set me Free’ has a more psychedelic flavour, combining ringing rock electric guitars and sitar in a rolling, summery drone.
